The new design builds on the success with the AST 4100 series damper and the recent wins in GRAND-AM Continental Tire Sports Car Challenge, including new technology developed specifically for GRAND-AM racing teams. . </span></p>
<p>DDP Technology Piston</p>
<p>Our latest digressive piston developed for GRAND-AM gives drivers and race engineers the best of both worlds. Drivers love the low speed damping response and body control, while race engineers love the &#8220;blow off&#8221; at high shaft velocities. When the rebound adjustment is soft, the damper curve looks similar to an OEM street shock profile. When the rebound adjustment is hard, the damper curve looks like a race shock!</p>
<p>This &#8220;Jekyll and Hyde&#8221; personality is exactly what AST 4000 Series customers want: soft street ride and race car track performance in ONE shock &#8211; all with the turn of a knob!</p>
<p>Lower Drag Seals</p>
<p>High performance seals are a challenge for any damper. They must balance friction and sealing ability while not impacting shock performance and not leaking; a difficult balancing act! While the seal was originally developed for GRAND-AM road racing, AST is taking our knowledge from the track to the street again. Newly redesigned seals decrease hysteresis in the damper and decrease seal drag over 50%.</p>
<p>Discontinuing Steel Shocks</p>
<p>In 2012, most AST 4150s will come with aluminum shock bodies. Strut bodies will continue to be built from steel, but all shocks will switch to aircraft grade aluminum. Economies of scale have allowed us to switch to aluminum without a large increase in cost of manufacture. For some models, this represents a</p>
<p><span style="font-size:small;"><strong><em><span style="font-family:Calibri,Calibri;font-size:small;"><strong><em><span style="font-family:Calibri,Calibri;font-size:small;">50% reduction in the weight of the damper (unsprung weight)</span></em></strong></span></em></strong></span><span style="font-size:small;">. </span><strong><strong></strong></strong></p>
<p>Structural Improvements</p>
<p>Several new designs proven in GRAND-AM racing will be added to various products on an &#8220;as needed&#8221; basis. All strut models will receive a new two piece top guide assembly that separates the dust seal assembly from the oil seal/bearing assembly. This two piece design is stronger in compression loading (bottoming out) and side loading (in the turn). Some models will receive weld-on stabilizer brackets which take the guesswork out of setting the stabilizer height and torque setting of the clamping ring.</p>
<p>Upgradeability</p>
<p>4150s will be upgradeable to 4250s! Using a modular build system, customers can send their shocks to Auto Analyser Performance at a later date and upgrade from a 1 Way shock to a 2 Way internal reservoir or remote reservoir system. Some models may only upgrade to remote reservoirs. An upgrade matrix will be published in early 2012.</p>

<p>We are very excited about the new Solo and Solo DL lap timer/dash system. The Solo unit is priced at $440CDN plus HST and offers some great features.</p>

<p>One of which is a built in Lithium-Ion battery that offers 4 hours run time with backlight on and 6 hours without. Consequently you can just mount the dash with the optional window suction cup and go, or attach the included supplied mounting bracket to your dash for a more permanent installation.</p>
<p>This unit is also fitted with the latest 10hz GPS processor which is able to lock additional satellites improving performance.</p>

<p>The DL unit ups the capabilities by offering a direct link to your OBD2 port to log anything your factory ECU records. <p>2011 is shaping up to be a great year for the Audette Racing team with success in both the F2000 championship with Remy Audette and in Canadian Touring Car with brother Mathieu Audette. Matt continued on his Toronto success with a 3rd and a 2nd to earn the pole and win race #1 at GP3R. The race was unique as it started late in the evening with very little light, finishing in complete darkness. Custom fitted HID projector headlights with the high beams blazing ensured excellent visibility of the track ahead and helped Matt lead flag to flag. Project Mu club racer pads coped well with the extreme braking demands of the GP3R circuit and provided the friction needed to brake deep while offering the modulation needed to prevent lockups. Race 2 was looking good as well with a 5 second lead when the K24 gave up and sent a failed rod through the block. The team now prepares for the Montreal NAPA 200 event and is set for another strong finish. The chassis development carried forward from the 2010 program has translated very well to the new series mandated Continental slick tire. 			<content:encoded><![CDATA[<p>This year&#8217;s American Le Mans weekend at Mosport will certainly be remembered as a hot one. Thursday practice saw temperatures in the high 30&#8242;s feeling like 45 degrees C with the humidity factored in. However the heat was not an issue for the Audette Racing F2000 program and Remy&#8217;s off season training showed through, helping secure the pole in qualifying for race 1 on Friday.</p>
<p>The weekend wrapped up with a 3rd in race 1 and a big win in race #2 while also setting fastest lap. Heading into Lime Rock Remy holds a substantial points lead and everything is looking good to continue with the positive momentum gained at Mosport.</p>

<p>Different main piston designs are available to help tune the system. While many dampers allow tuning of the main piston shim stack, most do not have multiple styles of piston available to help tune the damper characteristics.</p>

From the beginning of the adjustment range to the end of the range the rate of change is always the same. <p>Separation of Compression and Rebound Forces:</p>
<p>Most damper designs fail to produce accurate control as the shock transitions from one direction to the other. This lack of control at the damper is interpreted by the driver as a lack of confidence in the behavior of the car.</p>

The strut bodies are heat treated and stress relieved to a specific tolerance after all welding is complete. This ensures that one of the most heavily loaded components in the suspension will stand up to race track abuse lap after lap and season after season. </span></p>
<p>Strut Coating:</p>
<p>Most racing strut designs have some type of exterior corrosion protection. This ranges from basic paint to the plating found on nuts and bolts.</p>
